House of SP MLA looted in Kanpur

Valuables worth lakhs of rupees were looted from the residence of a Samajwadi Party MLA here while he was away attending a wedding of a relative, police said today.

Atma Ram Shukla was out of town with his family for a week to attend a relative's marriage when the theft occurred.

The MLA told police that total value of the items looted was estimated at Rs 10 lakh while the thieves also took away Rs 50,000 in cash.

Police said they were taking assistance of forensic team in probing the matter.
