Former Himachal Pradesh chief parliamentary secretary Babu Ram Mandayal passed away at his native village Harmandar, about 25 kilometres from here, today.
Mandyal (82) is survived by his wife and two sons.
A three-time MLA from Nadaun constituency in Hamirpur district, Mandyal was elected to Assembly in 1967 and 1972 as Congress candidate and in 1998 as BJP candidate.

He joined the Himachal Lokhit Party (HLP) floated by BJP dissidents ahead of the 2012 Assembly polls and was its state vice president.
He was one of the prominent leaders of cooperative movement in the state and also remained chairman of Kangra Central Cooperative Bank Limited for three terms.
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and former CM Prem Kumar Dhumal mourned the death of the veteran leader.
