: The price of hybrid turmeric at the Erode market increased by Rs 1,600 a quintal today, prompting merchants from North India and turmeric exporters to place good orders,
The price of hybrid finger variety increased by Rs 1,600 a quintal and was sold at Rs 9759 a quintal.
They quoted Rs 1500 a quintal more than last week price and it was sold at Rs 8923 a quintal.

R K V Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association said traders were keen on buying quality turmeric, and had hence increased the price for hybrid varieties.
In the beginning of February the hybrid finger variety was sold at Rs 9019 a quintal and it dropped to Rs 8177 a quintal three days back.
Other local turmeric varieties also increased by Rs 400 a quintal, as the price of the yellow spice was increased in Nizamabad and Sangli,the other turmeric sale centres in India. Added to this the price was increased in turmeric futures.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales yard, the finger turmeric sold at Rs 6169 to Rs 8529 a quintal, root variety at Rs 6109 to Rs 8209 a quintal.
Hybrid Turmeric: Finger turmeric sold at Rs 8239 to Rs 9759 a quintal and root turmeric at Rs 7819-Rs 8923 a quintal.
New turmeric variety:Finger variety sold at Rs 6309 to Rs 8309 a quintal and root variety at Rs 6134-Rs 8109 a quintal.
At the Regulated Market Committee,finger turmeric sold at Rs 7739 to Rs 8369 a quintal and root turmeric at Rs 7239 to Rs 8189 a quintal.
At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society finger turmeric was sold at Rs 7369 to Rs 8499 a quintal and the root variety were sold at Rs 7019 to Rs 8319 a quintal.
