Facing flak over allegations of impropriety in the recent auction of mining contracts, Punjab minister Rana Gurjit Singh today said he would "come clean" in any probe.

He also attacked AAP leader Sukhpal Khaira, describing him as "paper tiger", for seeking a probe by the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax into the allegations.

He said that Khaira and "others like him" are visiting the offices of the Lokpal, the ED and the IT to grab the headlines.

"They are hell bent on tarnishing my image for their petty political interests. But, I welcome these moves as any probe initiated on their request will prove my innocence," Gurjit said here today.

He said "some frustrated" and overambitious people are running malicious campaign against him but they will soon "bite the dust".

"One can defame but cannot prove an innocent a guilty. I am confident that I will come clean in any probe against me," Gurjit asserted.

He said Khaira's "frustration" was quite understandable since he had been pushed into "political oblivion".

"Khaira is trying to defame me to get the oxygen of publicity for his own political survival," he said.

Opposition parties-- Aam Aadmi Party, Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP-- have been demanding Singh's dismissal over allegations of "impropriety" against him in the multi-crore sand mining auctions conducted recently by the state government.
