Agro-chemical firm Insecticides (India) Ltd today said it has tied up with US-based Momentive Performance Materials to introduce superspreader AgroSpred MAX in India.
AgroSpred MAX is a silicone-based superspreader that acts as an adjuvant to help increase the bioefficacy of crop protection chemicals, growth promoters and micronutrients.
Insecticides India Ltd said in a statement that it has tied up with Momentive Performance Materials (India) Pvt Ltd to introduce silicone-based superspreader AgroSpred MAX adjuvant in India.
AgroSpred MAX adjuvant can be used with a broad range of agrochemicals as an assistive agent to improve the spreading, wetting, coverage and penetration of agrochemicals through stomatal infiltration, thereby offering a huge potential to reduce costs and drastically improve spray efficacy.
Talking about the new product, the company's MD Rajesh Agarwal said, "We are optimistic that farmers will find this technology extremely useful in their quest to improve crop protection efficacy."
With a little addition to their spray cost, farmers can increase the effectiveness of the spray multiple times, he added.
"By improving the ability to spread and penetrate the insecticide in the areas being treated, it helps reduce the wastage of the spray solution which generally goes into the soil rather than being retained on the plants," he said.
Insecticides posted a turnover of nearly Rs 1,000 crore last fiscal.
Momentive Performance Materials Inc is a global leader in silicones and advanced materials. It operates in India through its subsidiary Momentive Performance Materials (India) Pvt Ltd.
