Delhi Police today claimed to have busted an interstate gang of drug peddlers with the arrest of its two members and seized 80 kg of marijuana worth Rs 15 lakh in international market from their possession.

The arrested accused have been identified as Daya Shankar Rai (42) and Anuj Kumar Upadhayay (30), residents of Chappra district of Bihar and Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh respectively.

The accused used to procure marijuana from Odisha and supply it in Delhi-NCR. On July 5, police had received a tip-off that both Rai and Upadhyaya would pass through Pragati Maidan with the drugs consignment, police said.

"Acting on the tip-off, a trap was laid and police arrested the duo and recovered 80 kg of marijuana worth Rs 15 lakh in international market," said a senior police official.

Initially, Rai used to supply ganja in small quantity, but for the last one year, he used to procure it from Odisha in bulk, carried it in truck or car and supplied it in Delhi & NCR.
