The Indian Women's Press Corps today condemned the brutal rape of a five-year-old girl here and expressed concern over increasing number of crimes against women and children.
In a statement, the IWPC also expressed anguish over "sheer impunity and insensitivity" of the police in handling crimes against women.
"Just five months ago the nation's capital had erupted in outrage over the brutal rape of a 23-year-old and in a ghastly replay of that shameful event another barbaric incident has taken place. Again in a replay of December 16, politicians are mouthing platitudes and horror but are yet to show any action resulting in effective policy choices," it said.
The IWPC demanded "stringent and immediate" action against the guilty.
