A blast took place inside the residential compound of ruling PDP MLA in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir today, prompting the security personnel to fire a few rounds in retaliation.
Sources said suspected militants hurled a grenade towards the residence of Aijaz Ahmad Mir, the MLA from Wachi constituency in south Kashmir.
The police personnel deployed on guard fired a few rounds in reaction to the blast, they said.
However, police officials said they were ascertaining the nature of the blast.
There was no damage in terms of life or property in the incident, they said.
It was not clear whether the MLA was present at home when the incident took place.
