Jammu and Kashmir government employees today staged a protest here demanding that the government should implement a 2011 agreement regarding the payment of Sixth Pay Commission arrears and removal of pay anomalies.

Apex Body of state government employees- Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) leader Abdul Qayoom, who along with others staged the protest at Press Club here, alleged that the government has not honoured the agreement regarding the arrears, enhancement of age-limit from 58 to 60, removal of pay anomalies and regularisation of daily-wage and contractual employees.

He threated to take out a "mashal rally" to the CM's residence on January 15.

"We will take out a mashal rally to the residence of Chief Minister here and sit for dharna for two hours there on January 15 to protest against the failure of the government to fulfill the agreement," Qayoom told reporters here.

"We are giving five days deadline to the government to fulfill our demands in this regard," he said.

He claimed that the Omar Abdullah-led government had agreed to our demands and entered into agreement with us.

"But they have not done anything to give shape to the demands of agreement," Qayoom said.

"We will not get cowed down by the government's arm twisting acts and will intensify our agitation to meet our goals," he stressed.
