Jail custody for accused in student rape case

A local court today remanded in judicial custody three of the accused arrested yesterday for the gang rape of a Class IX student inside a tea garden in Jalpaiguri district.
The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Alipurduar, passed the sentence after the three were produced in court.
The girl, along with her friends, was going from Kalchini to Hamiltonganj on cycle when they were chased by three men yesterday.
While the others managed to flee, the victim was accosted and raped inside Kalchini Tea Garden on Thursday.
Later her friends returned with more people and took her to hospital and a complaint was lodged to the police.
 

Police arrested the three accused who were tractor drivers of the tea garden .
