"Congress was without issues. It merely tried to create some complex confusing data which was inaccurate and contested elections on that strength," Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley told reporters here.
He claimed that for ten years, Congress carried on anti-Modi campaign and "this time it decided that he is a person not to be named. It tried to deflect the issue in the last three weeks, but I am afraid it has not cut much ice."
Attacking Congress, Jaitley said, "This is the first time a campaign has been marketed by brand ambassadors rather than political leaders."
He said the results of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections will be an "expression of disappointment and disillusionment" for UPA.
He said the 71 per cent voter turnout in Gujarat is 6 to 7 per cent more than the previous highest. "...This really is on the account of the enthusiasm that the average Gujarati voter has because he now visualises that the manner in which the Modi government is giving a direction to the state."
Jaitley said the larger the number of voters coming out to cast their ballot, the bigger will be the margin of BJP's win in Gujarat.
