Jaitley meets Aus PM Turnbull, talks trade

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today met Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull as he highlightedthe potential of the Indian economy to grow beyond the current rate of7.6 per cent and the large scope for higher economic exchanges between the two nations.

During the meeting in Canberra, Turnbull expressed interest in cooperating with India in renewable energy sector where Australia has expertise.

Jaitley also extended an invitation to Turnbull to visit India. The Finance Minister also met his Australian counterpart Mathias Cormann at a luncheon.

Jaitley reached the Australian capital this morning after a two-day stay in Sydney where he inaugurated the 'Make in India' conference.
 

The Finance Minister is scheduled toaddress the K R Narayanan Oration series for this yearat the Australian National University (ANU) later today.

Jaitley's speechwould review the potential of the government'spolicy initiativesto stimulate financial inclusion and reduce poverty and create job opportunities through people's enhanced participation.

In the evening, Jaitley would alsobe attending a special reception organised by theCanberra-basedIndian High Commission tobe attended by Indian community leaders from several Australian cities.
