JD(U) MLA surrenders in 18-yr-old murder case, sent to jail

Ruling JD(U) MLA Ramesh Prasad Kushwaha today surrendered in a district court here in an 18-year-old murder case in Siwan district and was sent to judicial custody.

The JD(U) MLA from Jiradei in Siwan district surrendered before Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Arvind Kumar Singh in a murder case of 1997 and was sent to 14 days judicial custody.

Kushwaha was absconding after issuance of arrest warrant by the court and surrendered today in the CJM court.

He is a named accused in the murder case of Shivjee Debey in 1997 registered with Andaar police station of Siwan district.

The victim had named him in his dying declaration.
 

Kushwaha was at that time associated with CPI-ML. He contested the recently concluded Bihar poll on JD(U) ticket from Jiradei and won.

The case was earlier closed by the district police for want of evidence but following an order from the Patna High Court it was reopened recently.
