The JD(U) will organise its Patna district level 'Dalit-Mahadalit' conference on October 3 to create awareness on all government schemes that helped in empowering the weaker sections of the society, senior party leader Shyam Rajak said Sunday.
The conference will be inaugurated by the party's state unit chief Bashishtha Narayan Singh here, he said.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is also JD(U)'s national president, will be chief guest on the occasion, Rajak, who is also the party's national general secretary and an MLA, told reporters here.
"Several schemes have been initiated by the state government, which benefited the Mahadalits, especially the youth and labourers belonging to Scheduled Caste," Rajak said.
The purpose of holding the conference is to ensure better coordination between the state government and the Dalits and Mahadalits, he said.
"At the conference, we will tell people how the state government's schemes and initiatives have helped the people belonging to Dalits and Mahadalits to gain social prestige and how they have been economically and educationally benefited," he added.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the JD(U) national president, has implemented all the rights conferred in the Constitution for scheduled castes, which no other party has done since independence, he said.
