Jeera prices were down by 0.98 per cent to Rs 17,180 per quintal in futures market today as participants reduced their exposures amid subdued demand at the domestic spot markets.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in far-month July fell by Rs 170 or 0.98 per cent to Rs 17,180 per quintal with an open interest of 17,493 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in June contracts traded lower by Rs 155, or 0.90 per cent to Rs 17,050 per quintal in 756 lots.
Analysts said trimming of positions by traders amid sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position, mainly led to the fall in jeera prices at futures trade.
