Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das Friday accused Congress president Rahul Gandhi of spreading "lies" on Rafale deal and demanded an apology from him and his party to the people of the country for spreading "misinformation".

Das was reacting on the Supreme Court order on the Rafale fighter plane case.

The Supreme Court today made it crystal clear on the deal, giving a clean chit pertaining to Rafale deal, Das told a press conference here.

He demanded Rahul Gandhi and the whole Congress to apologize to the people of the country as "the curtain of lies against Prime Minister Narendra Modi was ripped apart".

Das said that Rahul Gandhi should tell who had misinformed him about the Rafale deal and what was the source for leveling such baseless allegations?

Rafale deal was a project of (the previous) UPA government. The process of the deal began in 2007 and the Congress government was there from 2007 and 2014. Why did it keep silence on the Rafale deal? Why former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh could not get Rafale deal done? What, rate for commission could not be fixed? Das asked.

Accusing the Congress of playing with national security and indulging in scams in the last 60 years, Das said touts had a role in whatever deals the Congress had done while the Narendra Modi government had done government-to-government deal in which there were no middlemen.

Alleging that sometimes Ottavio Quattrocchi while other times Michel had been the middlemen for the Congress, Das asked why the Congress did not do government-to-government deal?

"Why it did not accept government-to-government deal?" Rahul Gandhi also has to tell the people about the delay in the arrival of the aircraft because there was no government-to-government deal during the UPA regime and playing with national security with keeping pending on defense requirement between 2007-2014, he said.

The people will not believe when all the thieves in chores shout chowkidar as chor. The Supreme Courts verdict proved that those who shout chore fear the chowkidar, Das said.

Das alleged that Rahul has begun a new type of politics based on lies to get immediate gain for him and his party and the apex courts direction is a slap in their face.

Das also referred to the grounds taken by the Supreme Court dismissing the petitions on Rafale deal.
