The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party today alleged that 80 per cent of ration and funds meant for below poverty line (BPL) consumers was being embezzled by a nexus of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) department and ration dealers in J&K's Udhampur district.

"There exists a deep rooted nexus between the CA&PD department and the ration dealers who loot more than 80 per cent of the funds and ration meant for BPL and other families," party chairman Harsh Dev Singh said in a statement.

He urged the CA&PD minister to constitute a special task force to probe the accusations of fraud levelled against the department.

"Rs 30 crore ration transshipment scam has come forward in Udhampur. We feel this is just the top of the iceberg as similar situation exists in other districts and Tehsils," he said.
