Appealing for peace and harmony in the wake of beef controversy, the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today took out a peace rally in Udhampur town.

Led by JKNPP president Balwant Singh Mankotia, the peace rally was attended by people belonging to different communities.

Addressing the gathering, Mankotia appealed to residents of Udhampur district as well as the state to maintain communal harmony and brotherhood.

He warned the people against nefarious designs of anti-national forces and anti-social elements who, he said, are hell bent to impede national progress and disturb communal amity across the country.

The JKNPP leader also criticised the state government over the 'beef party' organised by MLA Engineer Rasheed.

He said such incidents are not only creating division among the people of the state but also diverting their attention from the real issue of development.
