Terming the arrest of former MLA Jugal Kabra as motivated, Rajasthan Congress today alleged that the state government was misusing its machinery to harass opposition leaders.

Kabra, a former vice chancellor and Congress MLA from Jodhpur, was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau today in connection with the alleged irregularities in recruitment of teachers in 2012.

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said during her last visit to Jodhpur, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had directed ACB officials to act in the past cases "falsely" framed against opposition leaders.

Such directives of the chief minister have come in public domain. Earlier, officers of Jodhpur Development Corporation were also arrested, Gehlot alleged in a statement.

State Congress chief Sachin Pilot said Kabra has been arrested in the matter in which the high court had quashed the FIR.

He alleged that the state government is misusing public mandate against those in opposition.
