The Delhi High Court will tomorrow pronounce its verdict in two appeals in a 38-year-old case relating to a bomb attack in the national capital on the then Chief Justice of India A N Ray in 1975.

A bench of Justice S P Garg will deliver the judgement on the appeals of Anandmargis -- Santosh Anand Avdhoot, Sudevanand -- and their advocate Ranjan Dwibedi, who were convicted in October 1976 for throwing bombs at Chief Justice Ray near the Supreme Court.

CBI, which had investigated the matter, submitted before the trial court that the Anandmargis had attempted to murder the then Chief Justice of India for not granting bail to the leader of the cult Anandmurti.

The convicts had challenged their conviction saying the approver Vikram, also an accused, had retracted from his statement he had given to CBI during interrogation.

Vikram had reportedly stated he had given the statement under pressure from CBI during recording of the evidence, they have claimed in their the appeals.

While Santosh Anand and Sudevanad were awarded 17 years imprisonment, Dwivedi was given four-year jail term by the trial court in 1976.
