Kejriwal again demands ballot papers instead of EVMs

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today reiterated his demand of using ballot papers to conduct polls and wondered why the Election Commission is insisting on EVMs despite all political parties barring BJP, supporting the paper ballots.

"All political parties (barring BJP) and the people of India want paper ballots. Then why is EC insisting on EVMs?" Kejriwal tweeted.

Last week, the AAP national convener had met Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi and urged him to order investigation into cases of "faulty" EVMs and ascertain if their software can be tweaked "in favour of the BJP".

The Election Commission's claim that EVMs cannot be tampered with is completely "wrong", Kejriwal had asserted after the meeting.

Responding to the allegation, the EC had said the AAP should introspect on the reasons for its defeat in Punjab Assembly polls instead of blaming Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
