Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today directed officials to provide better fire-fighting gear for Delhi Fire Service personnel and proper training to them.
He also directed officials to look into various demands of the personnel like extra payment for extra hours and filling up of vacancies.
The development comes four days after two firefighters lost their lives in a cylinder blast while fighting fire at a west Delhi restaurant.

The direction came at a meeting of the Chief Minister with a delegation of the Delhi Fire Service Employees Welfare Association at the Delhi Secretariat.
The meeting was also attended by Delhi Home Minister Satyendar Jain, Chief Secretary M M Kutty, Home Secretary S N Sahai and other senior officials of the Delhi government.
The meeting was called by the chief minister after a few members had raised concerns during his visit to the residence of one of the deceased, Hari Om, on Sunday.
The first demand of the delegation was to enhance the quality of fire-fighting gears.
Kejriwal directed the officers to get world-class gears for the employees of Delhi Fire Services (DFS) as the safety of firefighters should be given utmost importance.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to look into the demands for payment for extra hours they were putting in.
"They must be paid for the hours they work more than the stipulated shift," the Chief Minister told the officials.
On the demand of the delegation for proper training, Kejriwal told the officers responsible that the employees of the DFS be sent for the best training at the best centres required.
A senior government official said that the Chief Minister has directed that training must start from March,
He also asked the Director of Fire Services to ensure that the employees are trained to use the equipment procured from abroad at the earliest.
On the issue of fire fighters' complaint that the senior officials are not accessible, he asked the Director of Fire Services to meet the association once every month and send him the copy of the minutes of the meeting.
