The three-day inaugural edition of Kendrapara Open Chess championship would get under way on January 9.
The championship will be played as per FIDE's law of chess and Swiss system.
Nine rounds would be played and rate of play would be 30 minutes with 30 seconds increment from the move no-1, said Secretary of Kendrapara district chess association, Bhabesh Mohanty.
The tournament is being organised for the first time in Kendrapara with an objective of honing up local chess talents, he added.
