Mohammad Guddu, 27, whose gang was active in west Delhi was caught by a police team following a specific input regarding his presence in Vikaspuri yesterday, said Vijay Kumar, DCP (west).

He was held along with Lakhan Mawar, 22, and Gaurav, 23, and a country made pistol, four live cartridges, and a button operated knife were recovered from them, he said.

Guddu is a convicted murderer who got bail as his appeal against sentence is pending in Delhi High Court. His gang was involved in rivalry with another group over supremacy in extorting protection money from those involved in illicit liquor smuggling and betting, the officer said.

Earlier in October this year, two members of his gang were arrested by police after a shootout in Vikaspuri area.
