Kobelco Construction ramps up production at Sri City plant

Mining equipment maker Kobelco on Thursday ramped up production at its facility aimed at meeting the domestic and overseas requirement besides increasing market share, a top company official said.
Kobelco Construction Equipment India, part of the Tokyo- headquartered Kobelco Group had invested about Rs 100 crore for setting up the new plant spread across 6,500 square metre at Sri City in Tada near here.
The ramping up of production was formally kicked off by Kobelco Construction Machinery, Global Chairman, Kazuhide Naraki who unveiled the factory expansion in the presence of KCEI, Managing Director and CEO, Koji Nakagawa.
"We started our operations in India nine years ago and since then we are being given excellent support by Sri City.
With the production capacity hitting upper limit, we have gone for this expansion", Naraki said in a statement.

"With this expansion we are sure to meet the domestic requirement and exports," he said.
KCEI manufactures hydraulic excavators and crawler cranes of different models and capacities. The plant would have annual production of 3,600 units with the expansion.
On the expansion taken up by KCEI, Sri City Managing Director, Ravindra Sannareddy said, "Kobelco Group has many distinctions; it is the very first Japanese company to step in here. It is the first OEM and has gone for fifth expansion."
"We feel very happy at its success story", he said.
KCEI ships some of its products to Nepal, Bhutan, SriLanka, Saudi Arabia, Myanmar, Indonesia, Africa, the release added.
