Labourer gets 10 years in jail for raping minor girl

A 40-year-old labourer was today convicted and sentenced to ten-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) in a rape case by a local court.

Thane Additional Sessions Judge V V Virkar found Jaiprakash alias Suresh Rinkya Yadav guilty of raping an eight -year-old girl in 2011 and awarded ten-year RI to him.

She also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the convict, who hails from powerloom town of Bhiwandi near here.

According to the prosecution, Yadav sexually assaulted the minor girl, who lived near his house in Dongripada area, after she returned from school on September 21, 2011.

After examining witnesses and scrutinising evidence, the Judge noted that the prosecution has proved its case beyond any reasonable doubt.
