Lahiri finishes 53rd as Poston wins Wyndham with bogey-free four rounds

India's Anirban Lahiri closed the week at Wyndham Championship with a round of 70 to finish tied 53rd.

Lahiri was going well at two-under with three birdies against one bogey, but two bogeys on the back stretch did not help.

He totalled eight-under 272.

J T Poston finished bogey-free over four rounds and totalled 22-under to win his first PGA Tour title ahead of Webb Simpson at 21-under, and overnight leader Byeong Hun An at 20-under.

Lahiri hit 12 of 18 greens in regulation during his final round. After a drive to the right rough on the 428-yard par-4 fourth hole, Lahiri had a 163 yard approach shot, setting himself up for his first birdie.

 

He followed that up with another on the 529-yard par-5 fifth. He hit the green in two and two putted for a birdie.

However, on the 423-yard par-4 sixth, Lahiri missed his par putt from seven feet, finishing with a 3-putt bogey to drop to one-under. He birdied the 374-yard par-4 eighth hole to finish the front nine in two-under.

On the back nine, Lahiri's tee shot on 12th went 237 yards to the left rough and his chip went 28 yards to the green where he rolled a two-putt for bogey. Another bogey came on the 406-yard par-4 17th to finish at even par.

Poston's bogey-free winning achievement over 72 holes tied Henrik Stenson's two-year-old tournament record at 22-under 258, and became the first player since Lee Trevino in 1974 to win a 72-hole stroke-play event on TOUR without any bogeys or worse.

"I probably haven't had that many bogey-free rounds this year," Poston said. "To be able to do four in a row is pretty special, and finish it off with a 62 on Sunday is pretty awesome."

The native North Carolinian began his round three strokes back and took the lead for good with a birdie on the par-5 15th hole. He finished with three straight pars to earn USD 1,116,000 and 500 FedExCup points.

Webb Simpson was at 21 under after a 65. Byeong Hun An, who held or shared the lead after each of the first three rounds, three-putted the 18th for a bogey and a 67 to finish two shots back.
