Largest BPO in Northeast launched in Nagaland

A 400-seat strong business process outsourcing (BPO) centre, the largest in the Northeast, was inaugurated here today.

The BPO is a collaborative effort of the Information Technology and Communication Department of the government of Nagaland and Infinity Informatic Private Ltd in public private partnership (PPP) mode.

Inaugurating the BPO, Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar said it was crucial for the state as it is very important to generate employment for the educated unemployed youth of the state.

He appealed to the Centre to give special consideration to the youth of northeast region. "Our youths are forward looking and not afraid to handle technology and gadgets."
 

Commissioner and Secretary to Information Technology and Communication department, K D Vizo said the North East BPO Promotion Scheme (NEBPS) was launched by the Centre under Digital India Programme with the prime objective of creating job opportunities for the youth and also to attract their involvement for all round development.

NEBPS is aimed to create the right eco-system required for growth of small towns and the Nagaland State e-Governance society (NSeGS), which is functioning under the Department of IT&C, grabbed the opportunity by forming a consortium with Infinity Informatic Pvt Ltd to start the largest BPO in the north east, he added.
