Lawyers of all courts and tribunals, including the Orissa High Court, in Cuttack city today boycotted their respective courts in protest against the state government's decision to abolish the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT).

Since the High Court would remain closed for next four days, litigants seeking immediate judicial relief were left in a lurch.

Protesting against last week's cabinet approval to get rid of the SAT, lawyers of High Court on Tuesday had given the boycott call urging the government not to go ahead with what they called "arbitrary" decision.

"Neither the High Court nor the lawyers of the state were taken into confidence before the decision was put for cabinet approval," the High Court Bar Association president Ashok Mohaptra said.
