Taking positive cues from the global market and pick up in demand at domestic spot markets, lead prices went up by 1.03 per cent to Rs 117.75 per kg in futures trade today as traders enlarged their positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in July rose by Rs 1.20 or 1.03 per cent to Rs 117.75 per kg in a business turnover of 2 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in June edged up by Rs 1.10 or 0.95 per cent to Rs 117.00 per kg in 624 lots.

Market analysts said apart from a firming trend in base metals in global markets after disappointing May's US jobs data pushed back expectations for a rate rise this month and pummeled the dollar, rising demand from battery-makers in the domestic spot markets kept lead prices higher at futures trade.
