Residents of Banglegudde near Kaikamba in Dakshina Kannada district have reported to have spotted a leopard several times in the area last week, police today said.
Police have asked people to stay indoors.
Though the police searched the area the animal could not be found.
The spot is about two kilometres on the road from the Polali temple arch in Kinnikambla towards the shrine, police said.
Forest personnel have been informed, police added.
