A court here has sentenced a couple to life imprisonment after convicting them of murdering a person over an enmity at Chapra in Nadia district in 2015.
Additional District Judge, Krishnanagar, Jimut Bahan Biswas pronounced the judgment. He also slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 on Jamadar Seikh and his wife Madhubala Seikh of Alpha village as they were convicted of killing Manshur Seikh (40).
The couple had called Manshur to their home on the night of April 24, 2015 but his body was found hanging in the cattle shed of Jamadar next morning.
Old enmity was stated to be the reason behind the killing.
