Lifter Rahul wins two gold, a silver in Asian Youth C'ships

Ragala Venkat Rahul opened India's medal account in the 16th Asian Youth Weightlifting Championships by winning two gold and one silver in the boy's 77kg weight category at Bangsaen in Thailand today.

Rahul bagged a silver in snatch (133kg) and a gold each in clean and jerk (163kg)and in total lift (296kg).

The Championships is the continental qualification event for the 2nd Youth Olympic Games to be held in August in Nanjing, China.

On the second day yesterday, Lalu Taku finished fourth in boys' 62kg weight category with efforts of 107kg (snatch), 137kg (clean and jerk) and 244kg (total lift).
 

On the opening day on Tuesday, Mohin Chavan had finished fourth in girls' 44 kg weight category with a total lift of 130kg (55kg + 75kg) while TBC Lalchhanhima had stood fourth in boys' 56 kg category with efforts of 97kg (snatch), 127kg (clean and jerk) and 224kg (total lift).
