Liquor worth over Rs three lakh seized

Smuggled liquor worth Rs 3.50 lakh was seized from a pick up van near a highway at Nachna in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district, police said today.

Cartons of various brands of liquor were seized from the van late last night by a police patrolling party, they said.

The smuggled consignment, worth Rs 3.5 lakh, was probably meant for use during elections in the state, police said.

The driver of the van escaped taking advantage of the darkness, they said adding a case under the Excise Act had been registered.
