The Rajasthan government today said that it has provided loans worth Rs 44,000 crore to the farmers in the state in the last three years.

The government now aims to take this figure to Rs 70,000 crore in the next two years, state Co-operative minister Ajay Singh Kilak said in the Assembly today.

He was answering supplementary questions in the House and said that the government is providing loans at 7.1 per cent interest rate through the Rajasthan State Co-operative Land Development Bank.

He said that none of the nationalised banks are offering loans to farmers at this rate.

The minister said that through the Kisan Credit Card, the state government is not charging interest on loans of Rs 1.5 lakh and is providing loans above Rs 1.5 lakh at 4 per cent interest.

Replying to the questions raised by some legislators, Kilak said that the government has provided loans to 22 lakh farmers in the state through the Kisan Credit Card.
