A fresh low pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal today, raising the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall along with high velocity surface winds in Odisha in the next two days.
The low pressure area has formed over the north-east Bay of Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh and coastal areas of Gangetic West Bengal, the meteorological centre here said.
Under its impact, rain and thundershower would occur at most places over Odisha, while one or two places over north Odisha were likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Heavy rainfall was also likely to take place at one or two places over south Odisha during the next 48 hours, the MET office said.
Surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph might prevail along and off the Odisha Coast, while the sea condition would be rough to very rough, it said advising fishermen not to venture into the sea.
