: Lt Governor Kiran Bedi today expressed shock over what she termed was the 'serious deficiency' and 'neglect' of the fire service in Puducherry, which she described as an essential emergency service.
She was on a visit to the main fire service station in the heart of the town accompanied by officials and inspected the station housed in what is called 'Kari Godown'.
She later tweeed that 'another area of serious deficiency and neglect was addressed today'.

Official sources said fire services personnel had recently made a representation to Lt Governor that the fire station should be beefed up and provided with adequate equipment.
She visited the station todayin the backdrop of the representation to know for herself the shortcomings and deficiencies there.
