Lt. Guv asks police to evolve action plan for minor girls

Lt Governor of Puducherry, Lt General (retired) A K Singh today directed the Inspector General of Police to draw up an action plan within ten days to prevent heinous crimes against minor girls.

Referring to cases wherein minor and school going girls were allegedly lured into prostitution, he asked the IGP to evolve an action plan within the next ten days to prevent such incidents in the future and immediately bring to book all those responsible for such crimes.

He directed the Social Welfare Department to conduct awareness campaign in this regard and this should be done in rural areas, a release from Raj Nivas said.
 

He was chairing a joint meeting with officials of various departments including police to review 'issues of importance relating to the Union Territory.'

He also wanted stringent action to be initiated against anti-social elements disturbing law and order.

The number of women police stations could be increased to expeditiously probe complaints made by women, the release said.

Those who participated in the review meeting included Chief Secretary Chetan B.Sanghi and District Collector of Puducherry S.Sundaravadivelou.
