The Registrar of the Mahatma Gandhi University, M R Unni, has been placed under suspension for alleged discrepancies in the administrative credentials he had submitted for securing the post.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the University Syndicate here today, a varsity spokesperson said.
The complaint against Unni, lodged by an RTI activist, was earlier referred to a three-member committee by the Syndicate for detailed examination.

The panel found that Unni had furnished a certificate from NCC to support his claim of having administrative experience while he was teaching in a college. Inquiries, however, found that it was not an experience certificate but a letter of appreciation.
The Syndicate had recommended a high level probe into the issue before taking further action, the spokesperson added.
