Maha: Woman booked for assaulting cops at police station

An offence has been registered against a 44-year-old woman for allegedly assaulting and verbally abusing police personnel at Manickpur police station in Maharashtra's Palghar district, police said on Wednesday.

Parmita Deshmukh Dhole has been booked under sections 353 (assault) and 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act, Palghar police PRO Hemant Katkar said.

The incident took place when Pratima's husband Shoumik Dhole was called to the police station for interrogation on Monday, the official said.

While her husband was being questioned by the police, the woman arrived at the police station and started assaulting him, he said.

 

She also verbally abused and assaulted a lady police personnel, a sub-inspector and a senior inspector who is in- charge of the police station, he added.

Pratima has been booked under sections 353 (assault) and 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act, the official said.
