Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao today attended the "beating retreat", "tattoo ceremonies" and witnessed a host of other events organised on the occasion of Navy Day.
The events were organised by the Western Naval Command of the Indian Navy at the Gateway of India. The "beating retreat" and "tattoo ceremonies" involve sea cadets marching and making colourful movements at the beating of drums.
The Governor witnessed the fly past by helicopters of 'INS Shikra', rescue operations, continuity drill and band performance by the Navy, a Raj Bhavan release said.
Rao's wife Vinodha, Vice-Admiral S P S Cheema, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Western Naval Command, Navy officers and other distinguished invitees were present on the occasion.
