Press Trust of India New Delhi
Maize prices were down by Rs 51 at Rs 1,237 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators trimmed positions amid a weak trend at spot markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, maize prices for April month delivery dropped by Rs 51, or 3.96 per cent to Rs.1,237 per quintal, in an open interest of 560 lots.

On similar lines, delivery in May month down Rs 16, or 1.33 per cent to Rs.1,190 per quintal and having an open interest of 14,290 lots.

Marketmen said besides rising supplies, slackness in demand from cattle-feed makers in physical markets, mainly led the fall in maize prices here in futures trading.
