Maize prices slipped by Rs 12 to Rs 1,219 per quintal in futures trade today as traders cut bets in tune with weak physical market sentiments.

Market players said traders were like to reducing their bets amidst slackness in demand for poultry feed makers against ample stocks in the spot markets, which weighed on maize futures.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, maize delivery for June contracts fell by Rs 12, or 0.97 per cent, to Rs 1,219 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,240 lots.

Most-traded May contract delivery also fell by Rs 5, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 1,200 per quintal with an open interest of 2,890 lots.
