West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today visited the house of missing mountaineer Chhanda Gayen and said she was hoping for a miracle.
Latest reports from Nepal said she along with her two companions had died after being caught in an avalanche while trying to climb the Yalung Kang peak, also known as Kanchenjuga West.
She consoled the mountaineer's mother saying that the state government would provide all help and assistance.
Along with two sherpas, Gayen went missing on Tuesday when they were caught in an avalanche while trying to climb Mount Kanchenjunga in Nepal.
