A three-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man at Chikiti in Ganjam district today.
The accused an unemployed youth of the same locality, was arrested by the police.
The accused had lured the girl while she was playing outside her house and then allegedly committed the offence, said inspector in-charge (IIC) of Jarada police station, Bhabani Shankar Khuntia.

The incident came to light when the girl narrated it to her mother who lodged a complaint with the police. The girl was also taken to the local hospital for treatment, he said.
The accused and the girl will be send for further medical tests. "We will proceed with further steps after getting the medical reports," the IIC said.
The accused was booked under Section 377 of IPC (unnatural sex) and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault), police said.
