Man arrested for smuggling gold

A 44 year-old man was arrested at the airport here today for allegedly smuggling Rs 1.45 crore worth gold.

According to airport officials, Air Intelligence Unit of Customs found the accused, a native of Andhra Pradesh, concealing four kgs of the precious metal in a steel water container.

He had arrived from Bahrain by a private carrier early this morning, they said.
