Man attempts suicide after triple murder

A 30-year-old man attempted to commit suicide after allegedly killing his wife and two minor sons in Gumla district, police today said.

The accused in the triple murders, Atwa Jhora, consumed poison and was admitted in Sadar Hospital, Gumla, a senior police officer said adding his condition was stated to be critical.

Atwa, who along with his family returned to his home recently after working in a brick kiln outside Gumla district, allegedly poisoned his wife Puni Devi (28), sons Sawan Jhora (14) and Durga Jhora (10) and then allegedly attacked them with sharp weapon at Khambiatumba toli under Ghagra police station late last night, Superintendent of Police, Bhimsen Tuti said.
 

Tuti told newsmen that Atwa's wife and two sons have died.

The reason behind the incident could not yet been ascertained.
