Man dies after hydrogen cylinder explodes in Mumbai

A 24-year-old man died and another injured after a hydrogen cylinder exploded while they were plumping up balloons in suburban Bhandup today, police said.

The incident occurred at around 7.28 am at Bhattipada, a senior police official said.

On getting information about the explosion, police and fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot, he said, adding the injured were taken to a nearby hospital.

However, Nadir Wahab Abdul Pathan, one of the injured was declared dead before admission, he said.

Police have registered a case of accidental death, he said and added the exact reason of the blast is yet to be ascertained.
