Recovery of a body of an unidentified man from the boys' hostel of NRS Medical College and Hospital here prompted the police to suo motu file a case of murder today.
The body was found from the third floor of the hostel this morning, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Eastern Suburban Division (ESD), Dhrubojyoti Dey, said.
"He was declared brought dead on being taken to hospital," he said, adding, some injury marks were there on the body of the deceased.
The police suo motu filed a case of murder as no complaint has been lodged by the hospital authorities, Dey told PTI.
Though a section of people raised finger against the medical students, Dey did not rule out possibility of outsiders committing the crime.
"Rackets of a lot of misdeeds are operating in the premises and around. Even outsiders have access to the third floor of students' hostel," he said.
