Man held for cheating with promise of cure for 'black magic'

A 26-year-old man has been arrested here today for allegedly duping a housewife of Rs 3.65 lakh with the promise of helping her get rid of the 'black magic' performed against her by in-laws, police said.

The accused, identified as Sagar Joshi, allegedly told Samidha S Nilavade (43) that her in-laws had performed black magic against her and her daughter, they said.

To hep her get rid of its effects, he took gold jewellery worth Rs 2,19,000 and Rs 1,46,300 in cash from the woman. After realising that she has been cheated, the woman filed a complaint following which the arrest was made, police said.
